Yes, the 140Mafia scoreboard does change, but, it is only the top players leap-frogging each other back and forth, and the only way anyone ever could start playing the game today, and get on the 140Mafia scoreboard, would be a miracle!
The reason I built this site, one year ago, I was a bit bored and had just started playing 140Mafia and the game offered little or no assistance to teach the new player, and the folks at levels 500 and up now, were at about 250 or so, and everything was “survival of the fittest” which is great, but, as a new player there are certain expectations, that are just unreal, and, after a while, I would imagine about 99% just quit playing, I wanted to help slow this. You may be surprised, but this site gets quite a bit of traffic, people come here looking for tips, and there are some, but the community I had hoped would develop, has not, but, I am not giving up on it.
Anyway, back to the topic. Those that are on the scoreboard stay there until they quit playing and someone else plays like a fiend and catches up to where they were and passes them, it is a long slow process, but, if you want on that scoreboard, do not quit playing, eventually, someone will stop, and you can catch them! I still play, sort of, but mostly, I am here to give others the XP they are after, so that maybe a newbie will get a break.
I still encounter the server issues now and then, but it has gotten better. I login, do a few jobs, but a bit of property, weapons as I need them, and even pick a fight or two, but the days of playing all day and night are long gone, the game helped me take a mental vacation, now, I just play to take a break, when I need it, and I love 140Mafia for that, but, unless everyone above me quits playing, my current level being about 176 or so, I will never catch up!

At the time of writing this, there is a forum, but no game, even their blog is missing, the site has changed hosts, and obviously must have some problems.
Other than that, I don’t know what to say. Due to these changes, the links I had here to GoMafia have been removed, they were broken anyway. If and when the game does get going, I will put the links back. I had really hoped that game would be the answer.

Since the idea of starting the MobCops first came up, as a joke at the time, interest has dwindled, both mine and everybody else, so, I have removed this feature from the site. It was originally supposed to help the lower level players so that they would keep playing and not just quit, due to bullies. With all of the server errors, LOLplaying has defeated the purpose, players are quitting long before they get time to even be bullied! As it is, there are so many players that are just gone, even the bullies have left the game!
I have made some changes, the petition has been removed as well, after all, who would it be sent to? LOLplaying obviously can’t be bothered with even maintaining this game, why would they care about anything else? I have removed the Bully Report System, as well, so, if you happen to look for it, it is no more.

When the LOLplaying server issue first started, I just thought it would be a temporary problem and I ignored it as best as I could, but now, I have slowed down and just do more jobs. Trying to fight has gotten to be more trouble than it is worth, every other click returns the now too familiar error message!

I know how frustrated everyone is with the server errors, I am as well, and, after extensive investigation and research, I believe I have isolated the problem!
But first, so that everyone understands, how many times have we all sent messages, posted on LOLplaying’s forum, complained here and whined there? How many responses have we received? No matter how loud we yell, it seems that no one is listening, right? After all of the noise, we, the players of the game, still have to deal with the endless server errors. Nothing has changed, it has just gotten worse! So, if we were to analyze the problem here, and compare it to the problems in America, what do we get?
The U.S. Government must be running this game!

Today, after writing about the server issues with 140Mafia, I discovered that this site had a problem too! If you tried to read anything on this site since the latest WordPress update to 2.9, you may have seen this error message.
Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/public_html/140gamerz/wp-content/themes/executive_10/tools/breadcrumbs.php on line 59
I am sorry about this, it had something to do with the upgrade, and the way the theme shows the breadcrumbs, luckily, I knew where to find the solution, and it has been taken care of. Since theme customization is whet I do, I now have to go through all of the sites I have built and see if any of them have this problem! So, for those that did see this message, next time, let me know, I found out by accident! I use Firefox, and the browser had cached the page info or something, and this did not happen when I viewed the page, it did, when someone else took a look, using Firefox as well. Anyway, the problem here is solved, I just wish that LOLplaying would fix whatever is wrong!
Oh, I checked the 140Army game, it has the same problem as 140Mafia, so, it could be something more serious than just needing to clean up the database!

I am getting so frustrated with these server issues that I have almost stopped trying to play the game! I have had it take 10-20 tries just to log in or do a job, and trying to fight is really rediculous! I have gotten invites from a few new players, but, nothing more than usual, so a server overload should not be that much more than normal, and surely, with these problems, there have been many start the game and then stop, just because of these problems, which would balance it out a bit. I did a whois lookup for 140Mafia, which also had an error and couldn’t complete, but it does show something that hit me as a bit strange, it shows that there has been 34 owners since May 06, 2009, I have no idea what that means, but it is a bit curious.
All I know is that if these problems keep up, I won’t play. I started the petition but only had a few people get involved so I am going to remove it. Also, since Ibrahim showed up at the forum, nothing much has changed, so I don’t know what to tell anyone, but, I can tell you this, the fun is gone! I started this site, in part, because I loved the game, I had a blast playing, but now, it is more work than it is worth! I hate to admit it, but the very reason I started playing, boredom, is the same reason I may quit!
The network people I have talked to, tell me that other than the database needing to be cleaned up, a simple repair/optimize process, there could be some corrupt code that calls the database, but, that would or could also be a minor issue, that simply uploading a new or clean copy of the script over the old one, but, either way, should not be that big of a deal. On the other hand, if it is a dedicated server, that is an “un-managed” server, there could be a ton of reasons for the problem, that is, it could be an issue with the server itself, it may just be wearing out or something, I mean, parts do go bad. Depending on the host, that would be resolved by simply contacting them and filling out a support ticket. However, if it is a matter of an “undersized” server, or one of those budget “virtual” dedicated servers, it could be set to “throttle down” the bandwidth, memory, or whatever, which would mean that LOLplaying needs to split up the games onto separate servers, thus costing them more, and, as in the rest of life, money could be the issue! Has anyone noticed the same problem with the other games, ARMY, NINJA, or the ARCADE?
Here is another possibility, I just tried to play the 140Army game, I got the same white background, and after a few tries, the “Twitter is overcapacity” error, there could be an issue with the connection of the game and Twitter. Since every action in the game sends a tweet, that would stand to reason, it is getting slowed up by that to the point where the server “times out” and returns an error message. If that is the case, it is on Twitter, and not LOLplaying, but it seems to me, someone at LOLplaying would be willing to drop Twitter in the grease and blame them. I don’t know, but something is happening, and until it gets taken care of, my play time is going to be minimal, I will just do jobs here and there until I notice the problem is gone! If anyone reading this wants to vent, post a reply in the forum, or comment in the blog, it really does help to let those frustrations out! Have a good one!
Oh yeah, still no news on the GoMafia game either, I guess I’ll just have to start working and stop playing!

I don’t think there is anyone playing 140Mafia, nor has there ever been, that has not at some time felt that they were being bullied by someone! Seriously, if you have never been attacked by someone, relentlessly, regularly and for an extended amount of time, then you have been lucky, I mean lucky to the point of you had better buy a lotto ticket lucky! Getting attacked is part of the game, fighting, getting killed and killing are what people play the game for!
Yes, there were a few of us that got together and started the MobCop thing, and yes, it was done with both a serious and a “for fun” intent. Let me see if I can explain. First, there are way too many people who get bullied in the lower levels by the upper levels and then quit. I define lower levels as 1-50, after that, a player should be getting a grip on how the game works. Players that just can’t cut it, that do not buy properties and weapons to protect themselves and try to advance too fast, are just looking to get beat-up by everyone!
If a player is just getting beat down by their peers that are within like 10 levels each way, not being fully equipped is usually the reason and I suggest that such a player should read the Guide and learn a bit about how the game works, it is really not that complicated. Expensive, yes, but if you are patient, take it one step at a time, you can get there, even without buying Godfather Points!
I know that when it is you, and you are getting hammered by someone, the first thing we all want to do is fight back, it is a natural response, and, just like in real life, if you are not properly equipped, you will get your ass handed to you! In the game, unlike real life, you don’t actually get hurt physically, just emotionally, I know, it is akin to getting spit on or something, and absolutely will make you furious! Been there, done that! No matter how many people told me that I should just let it go, I couldn’t, so, the problem just festered up like an infected stab wound! I was lucky though, the people advising me were of a high enough level, and had enough influence, that the mid-level player that was my attacker, finally just quit kicking my butt!
To summarize what I am trying to say, when you get attacked, do not panic, do not fight back, unless you are equipped to win, and if you do hit back and lose, limit it to that one hit and move on! Take not of the stats from that hit, it will show you the weapons that you both have and how many were used. That is how the game works, you fight, you win, or you lose! Keep it that simple and you won’t make any enemies.
If you get attacked and then go whining about it, or fight back even though you lose, and then start posting a lot of garbage on the forums, and/or on profile pages, not only will your attacker start really hammering you, but, you will make enemies and have everyone start attacking you! Stop playing the victim, stop whining, and start learning!

I have been playing 140Mafia for a few months now, and have finally achieved level 107. I have to admit, there has been a serious learning curve in this game. In the beginning, it was all about MONEY! You have to have cash to buy weapons and property, then, here come the players that are higher levels than you, and they take your cash! At this point of the game, getting your hourly cash flow deposited, before it gets taken, is the main issue.
Once you have gotten past the bully issue and have yourself established with maxed out weapons and mobbies for your level, now, you really become a target! Depending on your style of play, you have either made some friends, or enemies, but, either way, once level 50 has been achieved, the whole game changes, again, IF, you have ALL of your mobbies equipped, and, a steady cash flow!
Now, the focus is on XP, experience points, if you have gotten this far, you understand how the game works, fighting gets you XP, if you fight the right players! If, you are fully maxed out for your level, those below you don’t bother, but, those above you, want to fight, but not to get your cash! If you have a good cash flow, the cash they take doesn’t even bother you, because, you lose more by depositing it than they can take from you! I know, in the beginning, you can’t imagine this, but, once you have, $20,000,000 hourly, over and above your weapons maintainance cost, the 2 or 3 million that could be taken from you is nothing compared to the 20 or 30 million it costs to deposit it!
With all of the above taken in to consideration, what is possibly left to really bug me? The players that dump all of their stamina, hitting you, then, don’t replenish their health so you can hit them back! Then, when they finally do have enough health, you hit them once or twice and they die or go to the hospital! That is what gets under my skin!

How do you get past the newbie panic? Simple, ignore what others are doing! Yes, that is the secret. I know how it is, I was the same way when I started playing, I got totally insane with rage! I was being bullied, bad, and couldn’t grow my cash to buy weapons, because I was getting cleaned out! Now, after playing a while, I see that if you let the cash grow and don’t deposit it, the money will accumulate faster than you think. The key is patience! If you remain steadfast and grow your cash, and wait until you can buy 10 of whatever, it will save you a lot of money.
From level 1-10 cash is scarce, just buy whatever properties you can, and only the weapons you need to do jobs, and remember, the drug deal is the best one for XP, but in the early levels, cash is more important, so get the most cash you can, and invest it! I did a test, did exactly as I said, I didn’t attack anyone, I didn’t post my invite code, nothing, until level 15 or so, by then, I had some cash and started to buy weapons, only the big ones, and started the 140Booster toolbar to get my mob going. I leveled up slowly, making sure that I had the best weapons for each mobster that was added per level. By the time I got to level 25, I had over $20,000,000 in income, and all of my mobbies were maxed with weapons, armor, but not vehicle, I saved my cash and leveled up until the SWAT Bearcat was available, in other words I only had 70 of the Armored Truck and over 200 mobbies!
So, if you want to play where you can grow steadily, just be patient, you cannot get to the top in one night! There is another method, one that is not “nice” you have to become a bully! Yes, it works for some, attack, take money, buy weapons, attack, take money and buy weapons, but, the problem with this is that you have no investments that pay you! I am a bit lazy, yes, I fight, but, I want cash to come in without stealing it from others!
When you level up, do not add any health until you get like 60 energy! Add to your Stamina about once every three levels if you don’t fight much, just grow your attack, defense and energy and you will be fine. As a matter of fact, attack points do count, but defense is less important, I haven’t seen it help too much. In the navbar you will see a link to the guide, or follow that one, this is the only guide of its kind and will help you a lot! Other than that, just remember, be patient, and invest!
